I have been lucky enough to be part of a playwright group, where I live, and to be part of an amazing group of writers. We are all amateurs, from different walks of life, but amazing plays have been produced.

I joined this group early in 2020, and when COVID hit, we moved to online sessions, through Zoom. We each wrote a monologue, but they weren’t shown because theatres were closed. Mine was in the viewpoint of a soldier with PTSD, the first time I had written out of my comfort zone.

I grew to love writing plays (Maybe I channelled my inner Agatha Christie) Did you know she wrote plays as well as all her brilliant detective books? Or maybe my inner Ernie Wise (Those plays which he wrote) Part of a fantastic comedy duo, they are funny even now.

Our latest transcripts have been performed, and, along with my fellow writers, I have been able to see our you tube videos in action.

It is an amazing feeling, and none of it would have happened if I didn’t move a few years ago. So my advice to anyone, writers, and non writers alike. Sometimes you got to take a chance in life, otherwise you’ll never know what you’re capable of.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. There are a couple of things I have started doing during lockdown that I’d maybe like to continue doing as part of a group, funnily enough writing is one of them. I have no specific interest in plays but enjoy writing flash.
    Good for you!

  2. I’d taken so many chances and failed miserably to the point I actually quit trying to publish my series. It was only the desperate pleas of a lady determined not to see me fail, that I took one more chance and this time it seems to be working. You have to keep trying!

      1. It is. For me it was diabolical publishers trying to ruin my stories. Editors trying to steal my stories and many people attacking my writing that almost lead me to destroying everything.

The lesson is, you have to find the right person who loves your work like you do. They alone will see you well, where the others are in it for money alone and dont care about you or your work.
