Missed Payment

Another missed mortgage payment, and it was going to be a long month again. She studied her finances, until the red numbers, were the only thing she could see. Gas, electric, petrol and food. At least it was going into the summer months. She didn’t need to put the heating on anymore. It was getting darker later, so the lights weren’t put on until the evening.

Dinner was cooking in the oven. It wasn’t much, but at least the soup kitchen gave them food to eat this week. They were both working, but the money was never enough. Her husband even started walking to work to cut down on the petrol.

It was her daughter’s birthday that week, and she couldn’t disappoint her again. She looked at her necklace, a gift from her mum. If she were to sell it, then she could get a gift. She only wanted a dolls house, but they cost so much.

Going on Facebook Marketplace, she typed in dolls house. There was something that could help. It was free for those willing to collect. The address wasn’t that far away. It wasn’t perfect, but just because it was pre-owned, didn’t mean she couldn’t make it perfect.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
