Healthy Eating

QUESTIONS from SHARE YOUR WORLD 7-4-2022om hit close to home today.

What do you think it means to be healthy? Having my blood test results today and my cholesterol is high. I have bitten the bullet, or the carrot and I am joining my slimming group again to lose some weight and hopefully get my weight down. Not that I’m obese, but I don’t want a heart attack. If I go to group, I will be amongst other slimmer’s. It will help me think about what I’m eating, and my treats when I have them.

Having high cholesterol isn’t healthy that much is for sure, so I’m going to have to think about my lifestyle, and take more exercise.

Is being obsessive about someone or something a good thing? It depends what you are obsessive about. If it is about feeling well, and healthy then it isn’t a bad thing. Anorexia is a condition where you are obsessing with your weight, and can be dangerous.

After a disagreement with your S.O., do you initiate the makeup conversation or wait for your S.O. to do it? I’m always the one who makes up first, I hate arguing, and don’t like the horrible suppressive silence when we argue.

Have you ever done something incredibly embarrassing in front of a huge crowd?  Feel free to share details or not.  Some things are best left in the closet..

It depends what you mean by embarrassing. I sang Karaoke once, and I was extremely drunk. I cannot sing, but I thought I could that night. I love the song My Delilah, but there are limits to my talent. I am tone deaf, and when I got off the stage my family was in hysterics.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Good luck with your slimming group Diana. I’ve been keeping a food diary for several years now and find that a useful tool for keeping on track, especially for the little extras, even if they’re allowed as syns.

  2. Thank you Diana for Sharing Your World! I once (only once) participated in karaoke. I chose Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody to sing. And I wasn’t even drunk. Just ambitious. My husband was mortified. I’m glad you were a good sport and took the ribbing as intended (laughing WITH you). I agree, those long silences are awful and good on you for being willing to make overtures. That takes a forgiving nature. Excellent example of where obsession can turn deadly and I’m glad you’re taking steps in your life to eat more healthily. Have a great week! 🙂
