Blog Writing

TODAY’S QUOTE from https://saltedcaramel670.wordpress.com/

Sometimes I think of blogging as finger exercises for a violinist; sometimes I think of it as mulching a garden. It is incredibly useful and helpful to my “real” writing. ~Kate Christensen

What is real writing? I think it is every time you write.

From what I can see a lot of writers, who blog, have quality content in their posts. From novels, split into chapters for easy reading, to short stories, poems, or just their thoughts. I have seen more quality writing here, than in some books I have read.

I have only been writing in my blog for a year, and when I struggle to write my novel, I am at least writing something. Sometimes, it will help steer my novel in a certain direction. The word prompts help too.

Any writing is a finger exercise for writers. We all know that our first draft, just like Hemmingway, will be rubbish. I think blogging is more than an exercise in writing. It is about reading great content and writing to an audience.

So, carry on Blogging, and maybe out of inspiration a novel will be born.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Very thoughtful and true. Blogging as a regular practice means you’re actively creating and putting things out into the world. In some ways, it is even more helpful because you’re able to get some feedback on your work that can help with other written pieces that you do. Brilliant post!
