Her husband, not good at being faithful, ended her marriage. Affair after tortuous affair. She forgave. Being trampled on with harsh lies, not something she no longer would accept.

She was the first person to consider a divorce, yet it felt right all the same. They married when they were eighteen, too young to realise life wasn’t perfect. A child within a year, they were struggling with a mortgage, a crumbling house, and bills.

Now at the age of thirty she wanted to start again.

‘I don’t want to lose him.’

‘You are not divorcing your father, I am.’

‘Don’t you love him anymore?’

‘Part of me has feelings, but our love is broken. It’s not been the same for a long time. I need to do stuff for me, not for everyone else.’

‘I get to see him.’

‘Yes sweetheart, probably more.’
