Done Running

I have never been that much good at running, even as a child I hated the thought of any exertion in that way. I used to get a stitch when I did the one hundred metres and the only sports day activity I was part of was the fun run. Although I did come second in that race. Students and teachers stood behind me when I threw the javelin. I bent the bar on the high jump and nearly dropped the shot put on my food.

I much prefer writing, that is my mental exercise for the day. My fingers run over the keys, without too much thought from me. If I make a mistake I can change what I have written. My mind runs away with me and the inspiration I get from word prompts. I mostly enjoy blogging, although I can be a little hard on myself sometimes. Especially when I can’t think of anything to write.

Writing is part of me, just as breathing is part of me. My dream, when I retire in a couple of years, is to use that time to write more of my novel. It isn’t easy finding the time to write, read, and finish my books. I might not ever run a marathon, but my words can rush across the screen without any trouble at all.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
