Vacation

  • When going on vacation/holiday, do you prefer a strict itinerary, or do you prefer a less structured approach? We tend to look the night before about places we can visit. When my children were young we would go to farms, zoos, a beach day. When we went to Truro, we went on a tour of a cider tasting place. I’ve to a marble tour, and loads of other places.
  • What is your most memorable vacation/holiday? I have had some amazing holidays. As a child I used to go to Margate, and went on my first roller coaster with my dad. He held my hand all the way through, and I knew I was safe. As an adult I have been to Cornwall, where my daughter got attacked by a goose (she wouldn’t let go of the seeds). My son was three when he opened a window on the safari to get closer to the cute cats (lions). There isn’t one memorable holidays, just lots of great memories. The funniest was a trip to Roar (a dinosaur theme park). Which wasn’t as interesting as it should have been. We laughed more because the giant models were not very frightening. My dog Scamp jumped in with the penguins. When I was little my best memory is drinking Strawberry Milkshake, and eating doughnuts.
  • Are there any places you’ve been to that you would like to visit again? I love the Isle of White. It has a slower pace of life there. I love the journey on the ferry. Black Gang Chine was a theme park there. It is slowly being lost to the sea because of coastal erosion. I would love to go back there again with my granddaughter.
  • Are there any places you haven’t been that you would like to visit? My dream holiday is Hawaii. I have always wanted to go there. Another is Italy, where my dad was stationed, while in the paratroopers. I have never been on a plane, or gone abroad. I would love to visit my bestie Theresa in America. We haven’t seen each other since I got married to my husband.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
