Grumpy Duck

My husband’s spirit animal is Donald Duck. He is very much like this well dressed duck because of his temper when things don’t go his way. Not that he is angry with others, just at himself. He has a medal for the amount of moaning he can do about football (full on grumpy mode) or politics. Always best to steer clear of these lol.

I am being unfair, in that when he does get angry, he will always walk away until he calms down. My granddaughter has named him ”Grumpy Duck”, and the name has stuck. I get some strange looks when I tell her to talk to ”Grumpy Duck”. I think it is sweet and shows the level of their closeness.

He adores her, and she him. They are partners in crime, and share their Haribo’s. My house looks like a hurricane has hit it, and I’m not sure how much looking after goes on. Mostly he puts on Paw Patrol, and lets her watch it.

For Christmas last year, he got a robe with Donald Duck on it.

To be fair, he takes this in jest, and doesn’t mind the Grumpy Duck, as long as my granddaughter is saying it. I think it has made his life happier with her around. He takes her to nursery, and is probably busier in his retirement, than when he was working.

Being a granddad is something he will always be happy with – less Donald, and more smiling makes his world a perfect place of making memories with his granddaughter.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
