A Mother’s Love

The moment you were put in my arms, I knew being a mother was special. You couldn’t smile, not yet. That didn’t bother me in the least. You gripped on to my fingers like a boxer and I was hooked. It was like all my pain drifted into another universe and I was left with a beautiful daughter.

You were a perfect bundle of joy.

Watching you grow, I wasn’t sure I was doing anything right. Money was in short supply, but the love I felt for you wasn’t. Being your mum is my biggest adventure.

I am so proud of you, my darling daughter.

Being a sister wasn’t something you signed up for – but having a brother is something special. If you cannot talk to me, for any reason, he will always be there for you. If he needs a friend, you will always be there for him.

Being part of a trio has made my life better. The brilliant advice from my big brother. Hour long talks with my beautiful older sister, where we put the world to rights, will forever be in my memories. For me there is nothing more unique than the inseverable links shared with my much loved siblings.

My little boy, when you were born, a big sister wanted to send you back to the hospital. Now, I see the closeness between you. The love you share, will run with you for the rest of your lives.

There is a bond between you, which will never be broken.

Growing up, you were always going to be amazing. With each milestone, your perseverance shone through.

Now a man, I am so proud of what you have achieved in your life.

I may not say it every day, but there has always been two things I have done right – and that is my children. I will be there for you, just as you will be for each other. I still remember that first time I held you both, promising to keep you safe.

That will never change.

Lots of Love

Mum xx

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. What a sweet story! I will link this one to yours for my attendance list on Janis’s story, Fly-By-Night. I was not able to find your blog by clicking blog. It took me to a static page as did all the rest of your menu items. How does someone find the posts you write daily?
