Christmas Shopping

Yesterday I went Christmas shopping with my family. We left the house at nine o’clock in the morning and didn’t arrive home until nine in the evening. I am always after the perfect gift.

I prefer quirky, different, or funny.

The trouble is, the same presents reboot every year, and because the children are getting older and turning into teenagers, I am never sure what to buy.

We trawl from shop to shop, armed with a list, and my mother-in-laws old trolley. Shoppers, crammed into a high street, staring at the selection on display, and seeing nothing but the lights. We all sit in a restaurant, or coffee shop, holding on to a cake and mug of hot chocolate in a bid to get through the day.

It is simple to purchase for my granddaughter as she is a toddler and selects anything on the shelf. Not so much for my grandson (vouchers for JD Sports?) I am told off for buying for family and friends, but it is something I love to do.

We brought the main presents (most of them).

I am going to purchace my daughter’s and husbands’s big present in the week. Ideas aren’t an issue, especially when I am sent links of what she would prefer. My other half; skulls, vapes, and sweets.

We are going to a craft fair today. Although, cash might be better, then I can monitor what I spend. We are going there with a mantra we need to adhere to: we are not here to buy for the toddler.

Wish me luck.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
