Festive Season

My response for https://lindaghill.com/2023/12/20/one-liner-wednesday-a-more-honest-version/

In a world where you drag your feet from one venture to another; it is possible to fall asleep standing up.

Written because it is the end of the school term, and the ultimate is the most tiring. We are ready for festive season; family, presents, and lots of yuletide cheer.

Please think of those who don’t celebrate it in the same way. For many people in relationships where domestic violence is a knarled knot of life. They suffer more because they are walking on eggshells ground into dust and their partners are in the home and not at work.

There is no respite and perfection is rarely achieved.

Families on the poverty line, struggling to make their money last until payday, worrying because they cannot feed their children a basic meal; let alone a turkey dinner or buy the latest gimmicky gift.

The homeless, without food or shelter to keep them safe.

Even if it is a charity drop, a generous act, or handing something in to a food bank; it will make all the difference to someone. If you have any old toys, there are many Facebook pages. One I know about is ”Sharing the Kindness”, where families donate what little they have, understanding the difficulties others face.

Sorry, this didn’t start off, as it ended, but I am aware of how lucky I am.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
