My low-tech possession I couldn’t do without is a must in England. If you are sensible, it is best to leave the house with this because we cannot trust the weather person. A few years ago, a man called Michael Fish said the hurricane wouldn’t happen. The next day walls were being blown down and Seven oaks lost six of their trees. Their roots pulled from the ground. It was a frightening event.

We are not used to severe storms.

It still rains in the summer, the only difference is the temperature is warmer (sometimes). You know us Brits, talking about the weather is something we do all the time.

At home, my town is in a valley, there were strong winds, which took out some of our fence and Bob the owl. He stood guard over our solar panels, and the pigeons miss their silent friend.

Climate change is real, and our winter is unusually warm, but with the same amount of rain. Keeping this item is a must.

  5. Funny enough, I’ve never found umbrellas (brollies? I feel we don’t say “brolly” in the USA…) to be so helpful. Either I’m always forgetting to bring them in the first place, or then when I close the umbrella to go inside I end up getting water from it all over me anyway. But fortunately it doesn’t rain so often where I live
