1. What was your favourite pastime as a child? I loved playing with my Cindy. British version of Barbie. I had a big blue bag full of stuff. I had an Action Man too. My neighbour’s children had so much. Their loft was wall to wall toys. My parents weren’t well off, but I valued what I had.
2. Did you use colouring pencils, fibre tips, or wax crayons for your childhood drawings? I used colouring pens, pencils or wax crayons.
3. Did you use a paint box or have a ‘magic’ book where you only needed to brush the page with water? I remember those, and it was good fun, because you never coloured outside of the line.
4. What kind of books did you read as a child? Katie, What Katie did Next, The Twins of St Claire’s, The Famous Five and The Secret Seven.
I am grateful for having the chance to learn to read. Each book I have ever opened has transported me to a magical place.
I am so grateful to be able to read too! Audiobooks are a godsend!

Your childhood memories reflect resilience and joy in simple things despite limited resources. It’s heartwarming to hear how you found happiness in toys like Cindy dolls and Action Man, as well as in coloring with various tools.

I was lucky, and never went without.

Childhood was such a great time. I’d read Secret Seven and the Famous Five as well! The Castle of Adventure was my first foray into the world of Enid Blyton! ❤️
