I’m Glad

1. Have you ever had a hangover? How old were you? I was sixteen when I started drinking. The initial wobbly morning was after I drank several vodkas. Lost three hours, but didn’t experience that much of a morning-after feeling. Never touched it since. I have had many hangovers, and that feeling of nausea, mixed in with a headache, is horrible.
2. Was your favourite social gathering place a pub, club, or restaurant? I preferred a pub, as it was quiet and I didn’t need to raise my voice over the music in a nightclub. I drank Baby sham, Cinzano, and larger and blackcurrant. Mostly I like Whisky.
3. Which do you prefer to play: darts, pool/snooker, table football or a card game? Growing up, we always played poker. A family tradition. Every few months we would assemble, bringing our spare change. The only rule; you had to be eighteen to play.
4. Do you still meet up with your friends regularly? One of my closest companions died eight years ago. My bestie lives in America, so I cannot visit her. We keep in touch via What’s app and online platforms. I go out with friends from work, and sometimes we have a meal or go bowling.

I am grateful for having my adolescent years free of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. None of my mistakes are there for everyone to view.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Thanks for joining in and sharing your world Diana. I used to drink Babycham or Snowballs at Christmas, but vodka and orange as a teen when I started dating, I couldn’t stand the smell of whisky. In later life, I enjoyed a lager and lime, then dropped the lime, but as I was usually driving, no alcohol and I was content with that. I don’t drink as a rule now because I know I can’t handle it.
