‘Magnum opus. That’s a fancy name for a drink.’

‘No, the painting on that wall. This is my new inspiration.’

Bob studied the canvas, uncertain of his ability to perceive its true nature. His upbringing taught him not to express anything unfavorable. Genuinely, the difficulty reared into a question before he had the chance to change his mind.

‘What is that?’ He asked, twisting his head to the side.

‘An angel, with feathers, hovering over a landscape of scrap metal.’

Don’t ask why; his thoughts shifted, and he defended his right not to be aware of art. Besides, one man’s treasure? ‘So, that white part is?’

‘Can’t you observe they are plastic to symbolize the destruction of our planet?’

Alan’s face swelled a sharp shade of scarlet.

He took several steps in the opposite direction. This wasn’t worth the hassle of a fight.

‘Oh… So has anyone brought it?’

‘Yea, some rich dude paid a couple of thousand.’

‘Blimey, no accounting for … I mean, where do I go for lessons?’

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
