Simple Act

‘Witness the elite brew master!’

She saw no necessity of learning her the simple act of assembling a cuppa. Sophie wanted her husband to show her. Almost thirty, and could brew tea.

‘It is necessary to add the bag to the hot water, stir for three rounds until it becomes dark brown. You remove and only after that do you pour in the milk. A drop mind, or it will be too milky.’

She stepped towards him, the half empty bottle shaking in her hand. Her eyes narrowed, as she shoved it into his hands. Wasting it on his head; too easy.

‘Do you know what, since you are the brewmaster, you can do your own. I’m going to watch Greys Anatomy. Make mine a latte, with a small teaspoon, and this much cream. Better bring out the biscuits.’

She twisted into the front room, and slammed the door.

The jar removed from the cupboard he kept silent-perhaps reminding her about the Slimming World diet and the amount of extra syns could be left until she forgave him.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
