Multicoloured

As the multicoloured, red carpet stretched into the vastness of the theatre, Dana strolled down towards the nosebleed seats. Up high, they were the only ones she could afford.

The comedian, a flash from the past, and she was enjoying a night out with her husband.

Bright lights dimmed and the stage lit like the sun was searching for the stars. She leant back in her seat, waiting for the support act. With a tap of her fancy feet, rock and roll filled the room with a bygone age where she could dance till midnight and even go to work the next morning.

Early nights, with a warm blanket, and cocoa was more her style these days.

She turned to the man she had married, who was eating his way through a packet of chocolates, and still loved him. Thirty seven years, and she never regretted saying I do.

A special date night and perhaps a take-away on the way home.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
