With tears in his eyes, Jason turned around and walked away.

Keeping a straight expression proved challenging when the little girl refused to get her a glass for her drink. She looked her straight in the face and told her mummy that she had legs and should use them. Rudeness in her reaction? At four, far more crucial tasks awaited completion.

Her Bluey game was unable to play on its own.

‘Dad, your not helping when you laugh,’ she said.

‘Sorry, it’s just, she has a point. Why can’t you grab a glass of milk yourself?’

‘I’m busy, I want to see how my series ends.’

His grin spread even more, wondering who would win this battle. Their determined nature often clashed, but their love for each other was just as powerful.

‘Hey, please can you help Grumpy? I fancy a sandwich and a coffee.’

‘Can I have a slushie?’

‘Course, and while we are in there, shall we bring Mummy her drink?’

‘Na, she got legs.’

‘Indeed she has,’ he said.
