My top image is my dad. He was an extraordinary person, with a beautiful smile, and I wish I could celebrate Father’s Day with him. He fought in the second world war as a paratrooper and grew up listening to his interesting stories.
A Daddy’s girl, he was always there to protect me.
I remember the holidays we shared as a family, and sitting on a beach together. I made my sandcastles, and he read his newspaper. He was a constant growing up. If I felt overwhelmed, he listened, and gave life saving advice.
I was seventeen when he passed away from lung cancer.
When I met my Father-In-Law, I instantly liked him. A similar age to Dad, I found it so easy to chat with him. He loved making tea and would fill up your cup minutes after you finished. Proper builder’s, so the spoon could stand up without help.
With four boys, he treated me like an adoptive daughter.
He died ten years afterwards, when I was twenty-seven.
Both men had to ability to make the world a better place.
Dad, I am so
proud to be your
daughter.
Len, I thank you,
for loving me,
like a daughter.
What a wonderful tribute to both.

You were doubly blessed though both were shortlived. This is a lovely tribute to the dads in your life.
