Retire

1.  When you retire (or when you retired) do you have a picture of a small cottage with a white picket fence outside in a quiet village or something similar?

I hope to take my private pensions a little early, when I reach sixty. I won’t move, but I will try and change careers. I cannot stay still, and prefer to be busy, but I want to be able to choose. I would adore a library job, or working in the theatre. I volunteer at my local entertainment centre, and have found it interesting.

2.  What do you associate with school dinners (apart from school of course)?

Tough liver and onions; still cannot eat it, even if it is Lamb’s liver. Prunes, not a great mix. I did like the deserts and pink custard and cake was a favourite.

3.   Can you play a musical instrument?

The recorder, and as a child I could perform London’s Burning, and Frere Jacka (brother jack). I wasn’t very good, but I enjoyed being in music club.

4.   What made you smile today?

My granddaughter playing a game with her toy animals. They went on a train, driven by Peppa Pig’s Dad, and had a picnic lunch and a spa day.

My gratitude this week is having children, who are be honest with me.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Lovely responses.

I his 60 this year and am so looking forward to retiring. No cottage, though. I would like to see myself travelling more! I think I’d like to find something a couple of days a week just to keep me busy…. or not!

We didn’t have school dinners. I went home for lunch in primary school and brought a lunch 95% of the time in high school. There was a cafeteria but my mother did not give us money.

I can’t play anything though, if I were to, I would opt for the cello.

    Today’s smile… joking with my co-workers.

    Have a great weekend, Diana!
