Written for https://iwriteher.com/2025/06/14/senhai-saturday-9/ I am of the generation that it was safe to play outside during the day, but as soon as that street light went on, I knew if I weren’t inside I would get told off. Not sure why it was any less safe in the dark, but we didn’t argue with the logic.
Sincere sun shines bright
spending time with all our friends
Street light flickers on.
Mischievous moon
like a lonely Cheshire cat
guiding us inside.
Lovely poem

Lol, if I remember the one time I was nearly taken was when it was light. I was lucky that an older friend stopped it from happening.

We were taught the same in our youth! Very nostalgic, Diana!

I’m sure all parents fear what can lurk in the dark. Very nicely done.

Lovely! I remember that too. I was always outside as a child, but when those street lights came on, you knew to go inside!
