A Long Way Home

This is a poem David from https://skepticskaddish.com/ where we worked together on a Rengay. It is a pleasure working with him and I love what we created. Db are David’s lines and the rest are mine.

db-blocked bus morning—
a lone car in the wrong place
nudges me to walk
dc-bright wellingtons ready for
an adventure of splashing
db-his old hiking boots
sturdy at makhtesh ramon—
long gone, still recalled
dc-ballet shoes, stood on tiptoe
their perfect partner poised
life’s poetic pirouette
db-barefoot tot tests carpet’s give
each diapered step a triumph
dc-bright memories of childhood
homeward bound, they smile
sharing a wave to passers by

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
