A force more powerful that hate is love.

How often do we walk in the street, too bogged down with our worries, to ignore what joy is in front of us?

Perhaps if we share a smile, we can pass hope on to another human in need of support.

Look to those who do not have somewhere to feel safe; they live on the streets without warmth, sustenance or a bed to sleep in. We are afraid to give money because they could spend it on drugs or alcohol, but to spare a meal isn’t beyond our realm of kindness.

When we return home, the offer of a cup of tea after a long day, helping with the cooking or washing up, or snuggling up to our pets, is a lovely way to show we care.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
