Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s day to all you wonderful women out there. Whether it is by blood, or adoption, or taking on the role as a parent. Being a mum is the most important job in the world. Being a grandparent even more special. My mother-in-law cared for my children when I was at work. They shared a special bond. My children would visit my mum, where she would always have a drawing book and old photographs on hand.

I hope you all are treated to an extra hour lay in, lots of chocolate, and most of all for your children treat you to the special day you deserve.

On this day I remember my mum and mother-in-law. Both women were amazing. I miss my conversations, with a glass of whisky in hand, with my mother-in-law. She had a quirky sense of humour, especially when talking about her sons. She looked after my children when I went to work. I miss our Sundays, where we would watch Columbo, and have a cup of tea or three.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
