Indie Author – Review

This is my first review of another Indie author starts here.

The Secret at Sunset Hill: A Katie Porter Mystery

I recently read the novella “The Secret at Sunset Hill” by K T MCGIVENS.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book about a female, main character, called Katie Porter. It starts with her trying to convince an editor of a paper to let her work on a story. From this, she attends a debutant party where items of jewellery go missing. This is only the start of her journey, where she investigates not only the theft, but a possible spy in their midst.

Set just after the second world war it is a period of time where women found an independence they didn’t want to let go of. Female reporters were rare, and so is Katie Porter.

It was well written, and the story epitomises the struggle women had in that time period. Katie continued with the investigation, proving she was just as capable as the men around her. Katie Porter is an independent, strong female lead and I empathised with her from the start.

I will definitely be reading the second book in the series to see what happens next on her journey.
