Writing Advice

It is difficult as a writer to take constructive criticism, but if we don’t how else are we going to improve. I am part of a writing group in my home town. I sent a couple of chapters to my fellow writers for a critique.

I learnt that my manuscript needs work, and the plot has holes you can push a double decker bus through. My sentence structure also needs work. Was it what I wanted to hear? Probably not. Was it what I needed? One hundred percent yes.

I strongly believe we need to understand that story writing isn’t just about the words. To do our idea justice we need to listen. That is what I’m going to do – listen and make the necessary changes.

When I do finally finish ”In the Dark” I will be sure it is ready for publication. Whether I choose self publishing, or try the more traditional route I will make sure it is ready before I do.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
