Whatever the Weather

According to the weatherman it was going to be sunny today, but in the UK that ca mean anything. Sunny, with a few showers is the norm. We are so unused to any hot weather, when we do have a few days of sun, nothing but complaining is heard throughout the country.

My daughter said it perfectly. Our houses are not designed to keep the heat out, but more about keeping the heat in. So, when inside our homes, it feels like we are in a sauna. When it has been sunny for a few days the humidity sets in. During the night the only thing keeping us cool is our fans on high and the window open.

It is a bit like when we have too much snow, the whole country is at a standstill. We don’t believe our weathermen because they’ve got it wrong before. Our schools close, we go mad making snowmen, and take our dogs out for long walks. This is not because we are good at complaining; well maybe a little bit, but because we don’t have snow very often.

The one weather condition we are used to is rain. We have more than our fair share of it. There is nothing better, after a few weeks of humidity, to walk in the shower of water outside. It is refreshing and keeps us cool.

So, whatever the weather, keep smiling.
