For Truthful Tuesday

Have you been to any movies that you absolutely expected to enjoy, but ended up hating? Or perhaps you went begrudgingly to a film with someone else and ended up enjoying it despite your expectations? Let us know about a time when a movie defied your expectations. What made it better or worse than expected?

There is one film I thought I would enjoy, but didn’t. The Original Grinch was brilliant, and I will watch it every Christmas. Jim Carey was great as the Grinch, and pretty much played the same role in Scrooge.

The cartoon, not watched at the cinema, but at home was not to my liking. It was way to politically correct. I wouldn’t watch it again.

One film I didn’t think I would like, or rather came across when I was flicking through channels was The Colour Purple. Whoopie Goldberg played the lead role of a black woman married to an abusive husband. She went from victim, to survivor, and I’m not sorry to say I cried at the end.

I won’t spoil the ending, but it is such a great film. I loved it. Another film Whoopie Goldberg is in, and my favourite film is Jumping Jack Flash. She can be funny and have a serious side too.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
