As a child I loved watching musicals, my absolute favourite was Singing in the Rain with Gene Kelly. A story about a film star who finds love. The movies went from silent to talkies and the female star couldn’t sing, so they got in a singing double.
This famous scene was recreated in a comedy sketch with Morecambe and Wise. A scene which Eric (policeman) kept on getting drenched, while Ernie Wise danced to Singing in the Rain. (Every time rain was sung, Eric was soaked in water) Clever, comedic timing and they were the best.
They were amazing comedians and way ahead of their time. They always had a music sketch at the end of their show. They toured the variety circuit before making it on television.

Interesting how we are affected by music. I first saw West Side Story as a small child, and could never get the music and the pain of that work out of my mind. To this day, I cannot watch that last scene with Natalie Wood without spending days in distress. And you are so right that the music, even (or especially) the whistling, makes such an impact.

Oh, I love this scene. I am always singing this song, in the rain with my two littles. We enjoy splashing puddles and finding joy in the downpours. Thank you for sharing this sketch.
