Holiday Bliss

This week’s prompt using Y, https://nopenotpam.com/ has given us food for thought.

So, onto their Y and this week’s prompts.

Place – yard

Emotion – yearn

Adjective – yummy

Verb – yawn

My animal – yuhina

Sitting on my chair, in my yard, I yearn for the holidays, where I sat on the beach and the only company, I had was from the rare yuhina bird, a good book, a glass of wine, and nothing but peace and quiet on my horizon.

Behind me, my husband brings a tray of yummy looking cake, a large mug of tea, and my favourite book. My children bringing the table, I watch as they put everything down.

‘We couldn’t afford a pressie, but this is for you,’ my youngest says, in her poshest voice.

An afternoon doing nothing.

‘I made the cake,’ Charlie said. ‘It’s your favourite, carrot.’

‘Daddy helped me make the tea Mummy, and I put the sugars in,’ Alan said proudly.

‘For one afternoon only, may I present your day off,’ my husband said, giving me a footstool.

As promised, they left me to my afternoon, and I read my book in peace. My family, so amazing, and money couldn’t buy everything.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
