Sleeping

The word prompt ”Knot” from https://girlieontheedge1.wordpress.com/2022/09/18/sundays-six-sentence-story-word-prompt-230/ and we are writing about slowing down and getting more sleep.

A knot constantly in her stomach, Sarah closed her eyes, but sleep wouldn’t come.

It was always like this, things had to change.

She got out of the bed, treading very carefully, around the furniture, which always is different when it is dark.

Not that it is any different during the day – her failing eyesight and the patches of light were less than the patches of dark.

Creeping into the kitchen, she didn’t bother turning on the light, it wasn’t worth it.

She needs to get used to a world where she couldn’t rely on her sight, to make sure she could move forward in the shadows; with a yawn she was finally ready to fall asleep.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
