This week’s prose for https://lifeafter50forwomen.com/author/sadje19/
Fake news, that’s what they call it, but he hadn’t expected the newspaper to burst into flames like a dragon’s angry breath. Okay, the news was hot of the press, but it didn’t happen to the stories he read on-line. Although depending on your opinion, the algorithms chose that for you.
If you were committed to a political party, they would only show you that news, if you wanted celebrity gossip, then that is all you were shown. He had learnt in school, the news was always targeted. There were different techniques to make you think you were important.
Conspiracy theories, the news would show that too.
It was difficult to understand the world today, just by reading a newspaper, or searching on-line. There were even ideas, in 2043, artificial intelligence was creating all the news. It was rare to have an election these days, only one party you could vote for.
Throwing the paper in the bin, Amara, left it burning. Grace, mercy, kindness, that’s what the world needed. Not second hand gossip and hate. A team effort to save the planet, rather than the elite few getting all the perks.
He turned into the road, where driver less cars were the only vehicles allowed.
The world seems like it has a bleak future.
