High Five

Written in response to https://saltedcaramel670.wordpress.com/tag/5things/ and https://saltedcaramel670.wordpress.com/author/drtanya90/ who asks us what five things we don’t buy any more.

High Heeled Shoes

At my age, nearly sixty, I no longer can wear high heels for long periods of time anyway. My son brought me some lovely shoes, but I have worn them once because they hurt my feet. As a young adult, I loved high heeled shoes, now they do not like me back.

CD’s

I have a collection of CD’s I don’t listen to, so why would I want to get more.

Make-Up

I used to wear make-up every time I went out for the evening. I haven’t put any on for many years. That and perfume. I just don’t feel the need. Part of it is, I have been married for thirty-five years. Another is, if you don’t like me as I am, then that is your problem. I still own it, just don’t need to buy more.

Magazines

I used to buy Women’s Own, but I stopped. Mostly because anything you want to find out about is normally on line. I don’t read newspapers either. Our habits have changed. We can turn on the news, or read the internet.

Politics

I never really was someone who was interested in political parties. None of them are doing a great job. Conservative, Labour, it makes no difference. I mean the Conservatives couldn’t hold on to a leader for months. I should have voted, but didn’t, mainly because I am disillusioned with all politics. I get that women fought for the vote, and should. It’s just, if they were all more honest, I would be able to find a party I would believe in enough to vote for.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
