News

What are your primary sources for news? How confident are you that those sources are presenting the news accurately, factually, and without bias?

Fandango’s question is an easy one to answer.

My main news source would have to be the television: I am old school, and nearly sixty. Although, any news is subject to who is reporting it. For example, I would imagine, in Russia, they will be getting news, which isn’t quite the truth. But the same goes for this country. It depends on who is in power, and what they want you to hear. It also depends on what channel I am listening to.

The BBC are more likely to go with what political power they align with. ITV, will be more general.

It depends on the viewpoint, like an unreliable narrator, there will never be the full story. Truth be told, I try and have an open view on any of the news. We had Borisgate, and his parties during COVID, while telling others to stay away from their families. Personally, I don’t think there is one person, who didn’t find ways around that law. Me, I spoke to my daughter from the path, with the door open.

Now, Boris isn’t in favour, or Trump for that matter – not that they ever were.

I don’t tend to listen to the news anyway, I have so many other things going on at the moment. My own life and that of those around me has to be more important. What we need more of, in the news, is how to make things better. For all political parties just to sit down, and find out what is best for our planet. Invest in education, our young people, and old.

The news, will never be impartial, and I learnt at school, when listening as a teaching assistant, that to get a full view of the news, you need to listen to several sources before making an opinion of whether it is true or not.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
