Murky Waters

Murky waters, and the castle was slowly returning from the floods, which captured the castle every year. Susan stared across the bridge. Her supplies were wearing thin, and she wanted a cheesecake for tea.

As per usual, her butler, maid, and handyman were all given the time off. She liked this alone time, where she could make her own food and write at the same time. Nobody to interrupt her with updates on dinner, or tell her to get up before the sun shattered her peaceful dreaming.

She pulled on her thick, yellow, wellington boots, and stepped into the puddle. She hoped it wasn’t that deep. Last year, she had mistook the depth, and nearly drowned. If it weren’t for her dog, she wouldn’t have survived the fall. The middle, and she was up to her waist, but it would be a lot lower near the other end.

”Come on girl, at least you can swim this year,’ she said, taking another stride into the puddle.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
