My husband is my rock, and is always there for me when I need a shoulder to cry on, or someone to laugh with, or even someone that I want to moan about. Is he perfect? No, but then neither am I. When we got married, nearly thirty-six years ago, we were both different people. We have grown together; learnt from both of our mistakes.
Marriage isn’t something you can give up on.
We have never been particularly rich, and there have been times when we struggled. But we did it together – knowing it was going to be okay in the end. He is sixty this year, and we have a party planned for him, not that he is aware of it – I hope.
In some ways we are not alike – but that is what is special. We can understand each others point of view, and it is alright to be wrong sometimes. When my children were young, if I couldn’t deal with a situation, he would help. If he were struggling, I would be there. I am lucky we were able to bring our children up to be the great adults they are now.
We are proud of how they have grown up – as parents, we have brought them up to be respectful adults. A joint effort, between parents that have made mistakes. This year it would be great to celebrate our marriage, by a meal out – just the two of us.
I love my husband, and there is nobody else I want share my old age with.
That’s so sweet ~ you should read it at the party!

So many couples get divorced these days and your family is lucky that you stayed together.

We had our fair share of ups and downs, but that isn’t a reason to give up.
