Menu

This week from https://fivedotoh.com/2023/07/18/truthful-tuesday-dinner-party/

You are having a few friends over for a dinner party. Do you let them know the menu in advance (in case of any allergies or dislikes), or prepare a three course meal with wine for each course and hope everyone enjoys it?

First of all, I wouldn’t be doing the cooking – my husband is a more skilled cook, and makes some amazing dinners. We don’t really like anything too spicy; although our tastes have changed, and we have Mexican food without our tongues burning. I would like to think I know my family and friends enough to be able to plan a menu; there are no allergies that I know of.

I would probably serve melon as a starter, meat pie and mash for main and treacle pudding or cheesecake for pudding.

To be honest, we would probably get a take-out, rather than cooking. For my husband’s birthday we had pizza. For my daughter’s partner, we always have Chinese food on his birthday.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Tanks for joining in Christine.
We would love to have a Chinese take out, but at the moment, it’s not possible as Hubby can’t eat anything other than something like soup after 3.30pm. The local Chinese takeaway doesn’t open until 6. Once he has his gastro wrap redone, it will be something to aim for and look forward to.
