Happily

It wasn’t quite what I expected, but a nice surprise to see the quaint cottage in the middle of mountain. Only one careful owner, it said on the advertisement. Now I want to walk through the azure door, and see what is inside.

I am full of hope.

‘Is this our happily ever after home,’ Minnie said, holding my hand.

‘Should be, but first we have to open the door and find out.’

They scurried up the grass, and I followed on with a smile so big, my tail could not help but start wiggling in the magical wind. A place safe from humans, and a place we could call home. I pushed the door, and inside a magical home met my intent gaze.

A little table, made out of wood, and the owner had left a bowl full of apples for us to eat. Minnie looked to me, as if to say, ”Is this all ours Mummy?’ With a quick wisp of my whiskers, I met with her eyes. We all tucked in, even Eli, who had never seen so much food in his three week old life.

We were home, and my children would always be safe.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
