Favourite

What was your favourite toy as a child? I didn’t have a favourite toy, not really. I can tell you what toys I played with. I liked playing with Cindy, and had a bag full of clothes, and furniture. I went to my next door neighbour’s house to play. They always had the best toys, but I was happy with my dolls. I was given an mini organ, which I used to play some tunes on. My Mum and Dad brought me a petite typewriter and a Tiny Tears. I remember it wetting Dad’s leg. It was funny and we laughed a lot. My typewriter was something I used because, even at the age of eight, I knew I always wanted to write a book. When I was twelve I wrote stories about Starsky and Hutch. I was going to send them in, but never did.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. I always wanted a typewriter, and when my gift was that shape, I was thrilled. Not so much when I discovered it was a piano accordion (12 bass) and my sister got the typewriter. Still, I had a lot of fun playing it at picnics. Thanks for joining in.
