Humans

Human proficiency in ChatGPT era, where they were slowly being replaced with automated clones; working in the factories, offices in London. They required no food, no sustenance and could be programmed to work more than eight hours a day. Although, it was difficult to persuade the workforce, they weren’t taking their jobs.

Company House couldn’t fire a human over a ChatGPT robot. Although there were loopholes. When they became too sick to work, because of the pollution stifling the city centres, they were given medical leave. Their jobs handed out without the need for interviews.

The superior workforce, product demand, and humans were given less demanding roles. The chance to work from home, without leaving their air bubbled apartments. Children learnt less menial tasks, using the computer system to their advantage. Working for the government came with credits they could spend on anything they wanted; downloadable games, television, or reading the new laws, which affected every citizen.

No plastic, no vaping, and no eating of meat; reasons why it was dangerous, not only to the planet. Even keeping these animals was illegal. Although, you could find anything if you had enough power. Even alcohol was limited to your three hours of free time.

It was rare to see humans working outside, but those who did, refused to give up their freedom. Ears, were everywhere. You couldn’t trust people you worked with, or even family. Prisons, no longer overcrowded, were used only in the event of a death sentence.

Yet, people were pushing back, the underground movement ready to fight the over population of robots. Being human, imperfect, found its way back into power. One day, there could be hope. All they needed to do was learn, and create a better way to be happy.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
