Fall

Fall, or Autumn in the UK is very different to what I remember. Today the temperature at eleven o’clock in the morning is twenty seven degrees. Way too hot, when the trees should be turning golden, and the night time should be cold. I am melting with the heat this morning, and you don’t know what to do when it is this hot.

Even typing is too much.

I love the way everything changes in the Autumn, there is so much colour. Leaves scattering on the ground like sunrise. Conkers, flocks of geese flying back South, jumpers being taken out of storage. Who doesn’t love a soft, warm jumper on a cold day.

Next week is meant to be better, more like it is supposed to be. I hope so, because we are not great at this sort of heat. Even our Summer this year was more rain than sun. (normal for the UK, let’s be fair) Roll on the cold weather, or at least a fall of temperature for September.

I prefer Autumn to be cooler, rather than this mini heatwave.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
