Wow, Amazing

‘Wow, what a performance! I thought the way you portrayed the front end of Bessie was amazing.’

‘Grannie, you have to say that don’t you. I didn’t even have any lines.’

Barbara smiled, and brought her granddaughter into a hug. ‘Yes you did, besides what is Jack and the Beanstalk without the cow. I mean he would never have met the man with the magic beans, or climbed the beanstalk, or got the golden goose at the end.’

‘I wanted to be Jack, but my teacher said I was a boy, and that was a girl role.’

‘It is, but you would have made a great Jack. Besides, when you said Moo, the whole audience clapped. It was so sarcastic, even Jack laughed.’

‘That is so true Grannie. Can I have an ice-cream at MacDonald’s, and can Stevie come too. She had to be the back end of Bessie, and it was awful hot under the costume.’

‘Course she can love, besides, the way she kicked back at the giant, I reckon she deserves a burger as well. We’ll ask her mum to come along shall we. I’ve never laughed so much in all my life. Was the beanstalk meant to crumple like that on top of Jack?’

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
