This week from https://weeklyprompts.com/2023/09/23/weekly-prompts-weekend-challenge-energy/
With the first coffee of her day, Sarah hoped it would give her enough energy to get her bottom of the chair. It wasn’t as if she didn’t go to bed early. Now, at the strange hour of six in the morning, going back to bed was going to be a bad idea. She tried going to sleep, but all that she did was twist and turn, while plumping up the pillows. Instead of soft, comfy, sleeping aids, they turned into a tough pile of lumpy earth.
Stretching into a yawn, she contemplated not going to work today. Not that she ever would make that decision. Almost falling asleep in her cereal, she took a bite. Her Rottweiler put his head on her lap. He wanted a walk, and perhaps that would wake her up.
‘Go on then, where’s your lead?’
Barking like the house was on fire, he picked up his lead, throwing it in her lap.
Everything was easier when they were outside. She could think about her problems logically. She threw his tennis ball across the grass, and watched as Charlie ran back with two in his mouth. Another long hurl, and she began to feel a little more like herself. Perhaps it was time to think about what she wanted to do with her life. Perhaps asking her manager for a raise – she laughed, knowing that will never happen.
‘Couldn’t sleep?’ Sophie said.
‘No, I don’t have much energy, not sleeping well.’
‘I saw the light on, thought you were up early. I tell you what, how about we go out tonight. It’s been ages, and you can talk through what you are worried about.’
Sophie, her friend since she moved into her house, always knew how to help. Perhaps talking through her problems would be a good idea. A problem shared was always a problem with less control.
‘That would be brilliant, let’s say seven o’clock, and I’ll bring the wine.’
‘And I’ll provide the KFC.’
Just like old times, she smiled, as she followed her friend home.

Rottweiler’s are very smart dogs.
