‘You mean, for the dare I have to sit in one of those chairs, but I’ll go down,’ Lily said.

Alice smiled, enjoying the game of truth or dare. Nobody knew how the chairs got there, or why they were slanted, but only the brave dare sit in them. ‘Go on, or I’ll win.’

‘Okay, I’ll sit on the chair.’

Climbing up to the second chair, she held on to the arm and grinned. She always loved doing this sort of thing. It was high. The chair didn’t move. ‘I’m queen of the world!’ Lily said.

Friends since nursery, they decided to go to Lily’s home for tea. Perhaps it was a good idea not to mention to Mummy they did this. She wouldn’t be happy, and besides they wanted cake for tea and watch Paw Patrol.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
