‘It’s my birth right!’ Stephan-Ridley the third said, stamping his foot. ‘I’ve waited fifty years for Pater to go and all he leaves me is this mansion. Let me see the will, are you sure he left his fortune to Nanny Wheaton.’
The solicitor, stared over his expensive glasses, and looked down the lens like Stephan was a bit of dirt on his designer shoes. ‘Stephan, as you well know, your grandfather respected Nanny, and wanted her to be looked after in her old age.’
Stephan narrowed his eyes, and stared at the woman, who was paid to look after him. After all, she was only the hired help. She didn’t deserve fifty million pounds. He was the heir, the sole heir, and it should have gone to him.
‘Stephan . . .’ Nanny Wheaton pushed the chair close. ‘I told your grandfather, I don’t need that amount of money. I get why you are frustrated about the will, but the mansion can be sold. Think about it, you can sell this house and get that flat you wanted in the city.’
‘But I wanted his money,’ Stephan said, pouting out is bottom lip.
‘I’ve no need for all that money, and I am willing to let you have most of it. All I want is a million. You know I’ve always wanted to move to America, where my daughter lives. There is one proviso, that you use at least a million for charity. Before you say it, not the racehorses you bet on. Your grandfather would have wanted the heart foundation.’
‘You are willing to give me most of the money?’
‘What do I need for that sort of cash? I would rather see you settled, perhaps find someone to spend your life with. I have brought you up since you were three years old. When your parents died, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.’
‘Sorry Nanny, it’s just . . . yes that would be okay. You’re right, I could sell the house. I’ll go to the city. I’ve always wanted to be a stockbroker.’

So did he agree to just selling the house or taking most of the money?
