Exercise your Mind

Written for https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2023/11/13/share-your-world-13th-november/

1. If you can, how often do you exercise every week? When I arrived home during the summer months, I would take my dog for a walk. Now it is getting dark, I am less confident about going out alone.
2. Do you belong or have you ever belonged to a gym? When I joined Slimming World and lost three stones. I joined a gym for the first time in my fifties. I was getting on well on the walking machine and gradually got quicker. It certainly helped me lose weight. I want to go again, but the cost is keeping me from going. An excuse? I’m not sure, but when the nights are not so dark, I will return.
3. Do you prefer to exercise alone or in a group (i.e. aerobics) I went to swimming aerobics for a few months. I enjoyed going there because the exercise wasn’t so daunting and it helped. I would love to join a Zumba class, or a dancing class. At least that way it won’t feel like proper exercise.
4. Do you enjoy it or feel it is something you ought to do? Not really, for me it is something I ought to do. I have high cholesterol, and blood pressure. As we get older, we need to think about our health more. When we are young, it is easier for our bodies to repair. As the years pile on, that isn’t true.

I am grateful for being able to go to sleep at night, and not worry about being safe. I have a warm bed, a home, and my life isn’t a threat from being in a war zone. My grandchildren are safe.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. I love this
I enjoyed reading your blog post! It’s great to hear that you found exercise to be helpful in your weight loss journey. I can understand how the cost of a gym membership can be a deterrent, but hopefully, when the nights are not as dark, you’ll be able to return. I also find that exercising in a group can make it more enjoyable. I’m curious, have you tried any other group exercise classes besides swimming aerobics? Great reflection on the importance of health as we get older and how fortunate we are to have safety and security in our lives.
