It’s a dog’s life, or so they sometimes say, but I wouldn’t mind living the life of a canine – I would get two good meals a day; taken for walkies; lots of special treats; including chicken and watermelon; and a belly rub from my human – bring it on.

I think that is what my dog, Titan, would say. A Shottie (German Shephard and Rottweiler He is a thirty kilo bundle of muscle. He is daft. Will eat lettuce if you gave him it and nibble on Barbies. (when my granddaughter throws them at him). We have a Jack Russell named Molly, and she is definitely the boss.

My first Shephard was Scamp – it has been six years since he died. I held him when he opened his eyes, and I was the last thing he saw. We shared a bond, where I couldn’t go anywhere without him wondering why. The vet called us when he stayed overnight after an operation: he was so anxious about being deserted by his family. He was a German Shephard, and everything else.

He was like my child, I loved him as one.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
