It is an ungrateful person, who doesn’t like socks for Christmas.


3. What is bog standard

In the eighties there were public toilets, which were underground. The standard was bog.


4. What is builders tea

Bob’s tea, it’s what he has got on his mug.


5. What is a couch potato

A new potato for children, the couch potato has a plastic blanket in one hand and sleepy eyes and a sleep cap on his head.


6. What is a finger in every pie

A chocolate finger in mince pies for Christmas.


7. What is meant by nip in the bud

It is wearing a scarf in the winter, to nip a cold in the bud.


8. What is to pitch in

When football supporters buy pieces of pitch.


9. What is rule of thumb

If you haven’t got a ruler, you use your thumb.


10. What is to steal someone’s thunder

Stealing drums is a way to steal the thunder.
