Martha was the most beautiful girl in the world, and a red rose was a way to steal her heart from unworthy rivals. He didn’t like it when other men paid her compliments. Tonight, with his carefully planned out his wedding proposal, there would be no doubt in their minds. She was his and his alone. Her dress, chosen just for her, was his treat for her birthday. Blue, she did so suit that colour. It reminded him of a vast ocean, where possibilities reigned in his personal realm.
Perfect? Not yet.
Like any diamond she could be transformed into an infinite goddess. When they were married, and had their first child, she could give up her job. If it were good enough for his mother, it would be plenty for her.
‘Will you marry me?’
From the moment he spotted her, he knew fate bound them to a promise he wouldn’t forget. The engagement ring, constant and strong, would set their agreement.
She faltered before it slipped on her finger. Thomas gripped the table. Disagreements would only spoil the day.
‘I love you,’ he whispered, his palm rested on her neck. A kiss, hard against her soft lips, and she relaxed into his arms.
‘I love you too,’ she said, and finally lifted her hand to the light.
Nice

I don’t know…there is a bit of foreshadowing telling me it might not be so perfect underneath! Great story!

No, his perfection wouldn’t be possible without pain.

Me too, this was not part of my book, but perhaps it should have been.
