‘You had that ace up your sleeve granddad,’ John said.

‘No, that was the one you dealt me. Besides, it was your idea to play with two decks of cards,’ Grandad said.

He fanned them out, realising his mistake. It was the way they normally played, although he still thought there was cheating involved.

He stared at the hearts which carried his best hand ever. Perhaps this was one game of Rummy he would be able to win.
